The Hotspot. This is an AP solution
designed to provide "Wireless" access to
business clients or guests. When wireless is
implemented, security is typically left
un-touched, and the LAN network fully exposed.
Some would have you believe the "WEP" or "WPA"
password secures the network. However, with this
password, the "LAN" is still exposed after
authentication.. Remember, if you give your
security key to a user, they are conjoined with
"your" network and their computer keeps the
"KEY" forever.
When a wireless router or Access Point (AP), is
activated, the path into the private LAN network
is exposed to a new inbound path. These users
are connected to the
"LAN Network" via wireless. They are the same as
being plugged in directly with LAN users. It is
important to configure security at the "LAN"
level. This is achieved with the "AP
Controller". This is an "Enterprise /
Business" grade solution. Users must enter
both a Login name and Password . Once logged in,
they are firewalled from your internal network.
The AP Controller prevents un-authorized access
into your LAN and creates a separate LAN network
from your private LAN network.

- Firewall from your Network
- Prevents exposing your internal LAN
components
A high percentage of network attacks come from the
inside LAN. When you add an AP, you have added
another path into your LAN Network. Since
wireless can extend beyond physical boundaries,
it is difficult to know if anyone next door,
across the street, or even up to 1/4 mile away,
is attempting to access your network.
Litecom.net can provide an AP
Controller solution to fit your needs.
It is
important to have a Wireless Network
Professional install or review your installation
for potential risks and security holes. |
